A Mix of Company Visits and New Experiences

Today was a long and eventful day. First, we had a long drive to Eaton Korea for a sight visit. The tour was interesting because I could clearly see what impacts I could make as a computer engineer in the future. For example, they had multiple robotic arms that were being used to replace some of the repetitiveness. Our guide said that they had no one who could set up the software portion of automation. I believe that they could automate many more tasks with the proper support.

The next place we visited was the Noryangjin fish market, a famous market where many vendors sell hundreds of different seafood products. Before talking about the market, on the walk, I took notice of the many soccer fields that Seoul has. So far, I have seen many fields, and they are always well-maintained and they are always being used. In the US, you are lucky to get a flat field. It seems that they put just as much importance into soccer as we do with football in terms of field management. Normally, I am not much of a fan of seafood, but I was interested to see all the different kinds of aquatic animals that could be seen and bought.

Before our baseball game, we went to Hyundai Mall, another famous Seoul area. Although all the clothing was too expensive, it was interesting to see the style. They seemed to artificially wrinkle their clothing for fashion which I thought was confusing.  Lastly, we went to a baseball game at the Gocheok Sky Dome. The baseball game was very different than the US version. Even though there seemed to be fewer people, it was more active. The main attraction seemed to be the cheers and the food and the game was more of a secondary thing.

Our time today had a good balance between education and entertainment. I learned a lot from the Eaton tour but I was also able to explore more of Seoul.
