Today was a day filled with factory tours and lectures. We left early this morning at 8:00 am. I had my usual breakfast which consisted of orange juice, eggs, and some sort of sausage. Our first destination was Grob which took us roughly 45 minutes to get there.
The first thing that I noticed when we arrived at Grob was how nice the buildings were. The main building was so clean and pristine. The main floor was huge, and it seemed like I would have been able to play a full football game in the space.
Our tour guide at Grob was so far from my favorite tour guide. He was in a great mood, and you could tell that he was very passionate about Grob. As we walked throughout the factory, he shared some great information about how Grob manufactures their car parts. I thought it was fascinating that all the machines that they had in the company were created by Grob themself.
I also found it very interesting that Grob sells their machines to Tesla. To me that does not make much sense because I believe that Tesla could just easily make it on their own, however I guess they are lacking the insight on the actual programming part of these machines.
After our tour and lecture we had food in the main dining hall. The food was surprisingly pretty good. I had beef with spaetzles, which tasted great. After a quick lunch we were off again to our next destination which was Forvia.
I thought Forvia was pretty interesting, which I feel like is an uncommon opinion. I found it very interesting how Forvia was hopping into the hydrogen-based industry. Forvia still has a long way to go with it, however they are going in the right direction and are a pioneer.
When we walked around the factory, I watched tracker parts get created, which was a very interesting process. Forvia produces around 200-300 of those parts a day. My favorite part of the Forvia trip though was watching them create Porsche mufflers. Watching the welders create them was super cool. The job looked very grueling to be honest and difficult. I really liked the speaker that Forvia created out of a muffler. It was super neat!
Overall, it was a great day of learning, and I am super excited to visit the castle tomorrow!
