PECC2 Site Visit

Today we visited PECC2, one of Vietnam’s biggest energy consulting companies. Its mission is to provide more renewable energy and increase sustainability throughout the country. They have been building solar panel fields and wind power plants, and decreasing the use of harmful fossil fuels such as coal and gas. Their work in renewable energy has been shaping development for Vietnam by contributing to the country’s goal of minimizing climate change and its effects, which have been very harmful to the country.

While touring the company, they discussed similar topics as our lecture speaker today, who discussed the government’s efforts to also increase sustainability. PECC2 is working with the government to help it achieve its goal of reducing emissions by 15% by 2030. PECC2 is contributing by working on projects and plans such as supplying 50% of homes and 50% of office spaces in Vietnam with renewable energy by 2030. They have made excellent strides in this plan and others, and are on track to accomplish them on time. They are excelling at tracking their energy, which tells them which areas of Vietnam are benefitting the most from which type of energy and how they can improve their services. They are also continuing their efforts to discover and develop more renewable energy sources. This visit taught me about the advantages and process of businesses working with governments to accomplish common goals.
