Hi everyone, today was more of a relaxing day since there was an anticipated strike and most of our events were cancelled. We started off the day discussing with Grant everything that we have learned this far and reflected on the trip. We talked about all of the hospitals we have visited so far, the differences between the public and private sectors, and so on. Our class had a long discussion with Grant about the strategies behind cell phones, how they are useful to us, and how they can get in the way of life at times. Cell phones can be interpreted in various ways, and I enjoyed hearing both sides of the argument from my classmates and professor. After this discussion, we had delicious empanadas, which I had never previously tried before and loved. There were many different kinds, all of which were delicious. My friends and I then headed down to the Plaza de mayo to watch the protest that occurs every Thursday at 3:30 to raise awareness. It was interesting to view a protest in another country. My favorite part of the day was when we went to the san telmo market. The san telmo market has so much to offer with food, clothes, jewelry, art, etc. I tried the Italian food which was amazing as well as the pastries and empanadas. It was so fun to spend time there with my friends and exploring more of Argentina. It bought two pieces of art that I will be able to take home with me and remember the trip. The trip to the market ended buying street jewelry with friends and meeting amazing people. We decided to try a steakhouse for dinner. I could not believe how cheap the steak was compared to the normal in the U.S. The steak was the best I have ever had. One of my favorite parts of the trip so far has been getting to try so many new places and restaurants aside from what I would get in the US. After dinner, we spent more time walking around the city and found a few spots that we got to try. Tomorrow we will be heading to Austral about 1.5 hours away. See you tomorrow!
