Today was a day I have been looking forward to since looking at the program schedule. With Munich being Bavaria’s largest city, we were in for a treat. To begin with, we took the train at the Augsburg HBF for the first time since arriving, and I was surprised with how easy and efficient they work. The stations reminded me of an airport in way with all the signs, terminals, and gates. When we arrived in Munich, it instantly was different than the towns and cities we have previously visited. Crowds of people were everywhere with lots of foot traffic.
It reminded me of the US as many shops and stores like the Lego Store, Hard Rock Cafe, Five Guys, and more were there in the city. I think I like Munich the most out of all towns we visited so far. It is much different than Augsburg. First off, it is much bigger and there are more people there. Additionally, there is more of a historical significance and a lot more unique building there as well. Munich has so much to do that has a mix of a park, garden, and a beautiful city with stunning views and buildings. We went on a great tour thanks to our tour guide who was wonderful. She showed us the townhall, the church, the river to surf on, buildings where Hitler and the Nazis worked at. It was a very informative experience. After the tour, I went to eat at an Irish restaurant which was fantastic followed by a trip to the Original Hofbrauhaus! I love the Hofbrauhaus in Pittsburgh, so it only made it better that it was the original. The place was packed and there was a live band.
To end the day in Munich, I looked at some shops and then a program dinner at a burger place which was very good once again. I definitely would like to go back to Munich as we did not have much time to go to all the spots we were hoping to go, but overall, Munich is a busy city that has a lot to offer.
