Welcome to Double Day!
We are going to two factory tours today, so it’s a busy one! First, we are heading to GROB, they specialize in making machines for automating processes. We had a great tour around the factory, where it was filled with natural light and shockingly clean. Our tour guide used this awesome speaker system so it was so easy to hear him and follow the tour smoothly, I wish everyone used that!
After the tour we had a few presentations and then headed to their cafeteria, which was great. They had a bunch of main course snack, and drinks options. We. Were able to grab whatever we wanted and it was all FREE! I may have stocked up on a few extra still waters, those are shockingly hard to find here in Germany. After lunch, we hopped back on the bus and headed to Forvia.
Forvia was probably my favorite tour so far. We started by joining with some of the German students in a giant meeting room, which overlooked the factory. We all had to put on some safety gear, including a lab coat, safety glasses, and rubber shoe covers. I felt like such a scientist dressed in the gear and took some fun pictures. After we took some fun pictures, we headed down to the factory tour, where we split into two groups. This tour, we got to see the process of making parts for Porsche, specifically those for the unique sound they make. It was so cool to see the machines that do welding and so many intricate steps. They also showed us a Porsche speaker system, where our guide told us that sometimes they play music from it, how fun!
Someday I hope to have a Porsche, and I cannot wait to say that I got to witness a process of how it came to be!
