Today was another very chill day. After lots of long bus rides yesterday, we got to sleep in till about 12pm. Sleeping in was great, and I had time to get a good breakfast in before we set out on our bus ride to the dam museum.
Before we even got to the museum, the bus ride was beautiful with many open fields, water, and windmills. After enjoying the views from the bus, we arrived at the museum which was right on the water. The museum felt very similar to the Anna Frank house, not in the content but in the vibe. It was very sad and morbid but there were lots of cool facts about the flood. I particularly enjoyed the videos of first-hand accounts. This reminded me of the Anna Frank house, and I loved it in both places because it really allows you to immerse yourself in the story.
I also thought about these video accounts from a business perspective. The outdoor museum that we went to was more of a blue ocean concept like I talked about in my previous blog, but both the Anna Frank and flood museum were using more of a red ocean or competitive advantage concept. This is shown in their adaptation of the video first-hand accounts which separate them from other less advanced competitors that don’t immerse you as much in the experience.
It was hard look at all the stats showing the number of people who died, as well as hear the first-hand accounts through video, but the more I think about it the more I realise that made my experience in the museum much better. Using access to first-hand accounts as well as different ways to increase your competitive advantage was interesting to think about and it truly makes the experience better for everyone involved.
Overall today was another very chill day and ended with relaxing and preparing for a long day tomorrow. I am excited to see if I can make some different connections tomorrow and the following days as it’s been very fun to make these connections and think about how I could possibly use them for what I want to do in the future.
