This morning I woke up and talked to all my friends in the lobby before departing to go to our first lecture of the day at Medife. Medfie is an executive union within the Obras Sociales, and the lecture was held by Dr. Florencia Ledesma. She did a fantastic job at explaining to us the role of Medife within the Obras Sociales, and also how it functions as a private company separate from ASE which is the large corporation that is important to Medife as well. I also liked that she was able to be more clear and give us even more information about the Obras Sociales, as that is the group I am working on learning more about over this trip, so she was extremely informative to me and my group.
After this visit, we headed to IES for a quick lunch and then went to ICBA, a private cardiovascular specialization clinic. I loved this visit as the lecture about how their clinic operates was very interesting to learn about, and both speakers gave a lot of useful information about the private sector. The tour was a lot of fun, the infrastructure was very well done, and all the hospital rooms, OR rooms, as well as other areas, were very nice and comfortable for the patients. The staff we met and talked to along the way were all very welcoming and open to answering any questions we had. I enjoyed this visit a lot.
To finish off the day we headed to the Malba museum, which I loved! I enjoyed the brief background the guide gave us about the exhibits, as it was helpful when looking at all the art. I really love art museums already and it usually is a little harder for me to be into modern art, but this one was like nothing I had ever seen, modern art wise. There were some stand-alone pieces that were very interesting, and some pieces that went together to tell a story and many of them were very powerful to look at and read about.
I had a great time today and I am looking forward to what tomorrow holds! Below is a graph I made is demonstrating how money flows through the obras system, (very basic version).
