Today, we had the opportunity to tour two more companies. Our first tour was to hy Corporation which is a major producer of probiotic drinks. In Korea, it is very customary to consume foods that benefit your daily health, so it is common to drink probiotic drinks for breakfast. The hy Corporation was extensive and produced several different lines of drinks.
Our tour started with a brief overview of the yogurt drink making process. The most time consuming part of the process is the first step: curation and fermentation. Ingredients are mixed in large containers which sit for twenty days in order to cultivate healthy probiotics within the drink. The curated liquid is then taken to a production line where bottles are filled precisely. Cameras are used to ensure the liquid reaches the brim of each bottle. During this time, a printing process ensures the logo and expiration date is clearly printed on the product. The tour was extremely informative, and it made me consider the amount of processing that is involved in something as simple as a daily probiotic drink.
After touring the hy Corporation, we drove to the Samsung Innovation Museum to tour the foundations of the company. During our tour, we walked through several rooms which contained historical pieces of technology and innovation involving development of the modern day company. The Samsung Innovation Museum was highly advanced; from its modern architecture style to its high speed technology, I was thoroughly impressed by how developed the museum was. One of the most impressive pieces of technology was involved in the Smart Home exhibit, which enabled users to control lighting, humidity, television, and shades all from a mobile phone. The museum tour provided me with a personal look at the integration of technology into daily life to benefit efficiency and workflow.
