Innovation Station

The day started out with a tour of the hy company. I was not familiar with the company before we went, so I asked my professor what it was. Little did I know, I have been consuming their products every morning at breakfast. Hy is a food company that specializes in drinkable yogurts that contain probiotics. These probiotics are created through a fermentation process conducted by hy.

They showed us the entire process of how they sterilized workers before they go into the factory. They also showed us the production in which bottles are created, cleaned, filled, and packaged. Hy works with another company to distribute their products directly to customers. They deliver using mobile coolers that keep all of their products cold. Later in the tour, they gave us some more history on hy and how their products worked. They had a tunnel in their building that was a massive replica of a mouth and stomach. They used this to describe how the probiotics work to improve gut health. Lastly, we got to sample what hy had to offer. Their products taste very good and have positive health effects, so, unfortunately, I might not be able to attain them in the United States.

After hy, we had to quickly get lunch. The Samsung SIM had very specific tour times. We were able to get there just in time. The Samsung Innovation Museum was a large building. It had many stories with lots of historical artifacts. Our tour took us through the history of electronics. We started by learning about the discovery of electricity, all the way up to the present day. We learned about semiconductors, cell phones, TVs, and much more. The museum gave me a holistic view of my idea of smart systems. Going to the museum expanded upon my smart systems understanding by putting it in the context of a major company.
