Hello! My name is Sean McGuigan and I am an engineering student going into Industrial Engineering with a Spanish minor. I am from Phoenixville, PA, about 40 minutes up the Schuylkill River northwest of Philadelphia, close to Valley Forge and KOP. At Pitt I play on the Club Handball team and also have a radio show on WPTS Thursday mornings from 9-10. Outside of Pitt I enjoy riding my bike on trails, golfing, and playing or watching sports. I really enjoy football and am a diehard Eagles fan (the real score was 40-6), so my dream job would be an offensive or defensive coordinator for a football team.
I am very excited to visit Cyprus this May. I find it very important to take advantage of opportunities for new experiences and I couldn’t pass this one up. I have previously visited Malta and France and really enjoy discovering new cultures. In addition I hope that this trip can teach me more about some of the principles of modern day supply chains and global business, especially because this is what I will be focusing on within my major. Previously in high school I have been able to take several different engineering courses and talk to engineers within those fields, such as civil engineering and electrical engineering, but this will be a new experience seeing firsthand how industrial engineers work and what their average workday consists of. Cyprus as well has a very rich history which I will love to learn more about when we are there.
