After a 16-hour flight we arrived in South Korea. It was around 4 a.m. when our flight landed. When we finally got off the plane we met together as a group. During this group meeting we were told to check out a small convenience store in the airport to get snacks before we departed on a bus for Seoul.
Around 5:30 a.m. we got on a bus and started to make our way to our hotel in Seoul. The bus ride was refreshing because I could relax and look out my window and see Korea. We arrived at our hotel around 6:30 a.m. and dropped off our luggage in the lobby. We were not able to check into the hotel until later in the day. After dropping off our luggage we left the hotel to go get breakfast. After breakfast we met back at the hotel for a meeting before we made our way to Gyeongbokgung Palace and the Blue House.
We took the subway to Gyeongbokgung Palace. While at Gyeongbokgung Palace we got to see the changing of the guard and got to learn about the history of the palace while walking around the palace.
At visiting the Gyeongbokgung Palace, we made our way to the Blue House. The Blue House is where the presidents of Korea usually live. However, the current president does not live in the Blue House so it able to be toured. Because of the long line today we were not able to tour the Blue House.
We finished off the day by going to get food from a street market. There were lots of vendors selling food and I ended up getting chicken. The chicken tasted great. Dr. Yun also gave me corn ice cream. The ice cream was in the shape of an ear of corn and also had frozen pieces of corn inside of it.
Looking forward to what tomorrow has in store!
