Austral hospital is a private hospital that is connected to the university of Austral, and is one of the leading hospitals in the city or even the nation. It is known for its transplants and has a doctor that trained at the university of Pittsburgh!
The private side of healthcare in the nation certainly has its problems but something tells me Austral is not as badly effected by these problems as some other hospitals. For example Austral hospital operates to keep their christian mission going not to raise profits. They do need to make a profit mind you but are not only for profit.
Now, two big problems I’ve noticed in the private side of healthcare is staffing and money. Qualified nurses are hard to come by and even Austral has issues staffing 100% qualified nurses, but they are directly connected to a hospital and shuffle qualified nurses into work there. And for money, the unions with health insurance (how hospitals make money) negotiate a price that hospitals can charge so hospitals create a dynamic where they need to underbid the next best hospital for services which is driving prices down and hospital revenue down as well. But again, Austral is not a for profit hospital and also has some of the highest quality transplant surgeries which actually gives them an advantage.
