
After starting my journey to Cyprus on May 9th, the long travel days lead me to the wonderful city of Nicosia. The beautiful view from my balcony and the scenic drive to the university were the first moments that started my day on the island. On our visit to the University of Nicosia, I was able to indulge in some classic Cypriot dishes which were similar to the Greek cuisine that I am used to. There were many differences however in the texture and consistency of the foods. Especially the desserts such as the galaktopoureko were familiar and comforting. I got to try the famous cheese, Halloumi, which was very delicious. It reminded me of this flaming cheese called saganaki. Overall, today was a dip into the food and culture that this place has to offer. Onto Tuesday!
