Strawberry fields forever (not the song by the Beatles though)

Today we took on Hacienda Doka coffee farm and a beautiful strawberry farm! The coffee farm was more step by step, with everything in order, starting from growing the beans all the way to drying them and making them into a delicious coffee. The Strawberry farm was a bit zany with miles and miles of strawberries growing in every direction. I am 100% sure there is rhyme and reason as to why they are grown in certain orders and where everything is, but I could not figure it out!

The optimal conditions for growing coffee are a cool to warm climate, and the beans are picked during the dry season. I was surprised by how many steps there were to ensure the quality of the coffee. The optimal condition for strawberries, however, is full sun and rich soil. They both have similar growing conditions, but the strawberries were covered, and the coffee plants were not. I was surprised that the strawberry plants were covered and could thrive in the shade as well, knowing that they need full sun. The technology for the coffee was very advanced, while that of the strawberries was surprisingly basic and relied heavily on manual labor. The strawberry farm could definitely benefit from more machinery, such as one to make the mounds of soil, but the coffee farm was already so advanced, I am unsure of what could be added.

Overall, today was such a fun day and I cannot wait to see what tomorrow holds.
