At Wargaming today, we got a ton of insight into the function of their company on a higher level and more in depth within the gaming world. One thing I learned about the game development industry was the crazy royalty standard to distributers, especially for mobile gaming. Apparently, game companies have to give 30% of their revenue to distributers, which is something Epic games has started fighting against. A supply chain concept that can be applied to Wargaming is the idea of having different channel members. What we saw today was management, who help deliver what people code, which is its own facility and channel member, to the general public.
After that, we went to Kakopetria Village, which was extremely beautiful. By being there, I learned that not all of Cyprus is the same dry yellow color, as it was extremely lush and green. Additionally, I observed the prominence of jams and marmalades that were sold all over town by local business owners, often people selling it out of their own house. The St. Nicholas of the Roof Church was really cool, and our tour guide knew everything about the icons that were displayed inside. Something interesting that I learned is that Jesus was not always portrayed at the center of paintings, and often had another role along with the other figures depicted on the wall. For example, Jesus held a book, while a saint held the keys to heaven. Another thing I learned is that people bring wax babies and other shaped items to churches. They do this with the intention of healing said items in real life, like a newborn or a broken bone.
