Exploring Augsburg

I am so excited to finally be on this trip after looking forward to it for so long! It was a long day getting to Germany, but it was definitely worth all of the travel. When we got to Augsburg we did a tour of the city and then some free time before we could get to the hotel. My group ended up going to a park where we layed in the sun and got some rest after a long day. One thing I noticed was how quiet the public spaces were compared to a lot of places at home. After our break, we took another tour that talked more about the history of Augsburg, where we went into the Fuggerei housing. I thought that part of the tour was very interesting. That night we got to have traditional German food for dinner which I really enjoyed.

We also spent the second day in Augsburg. First, we went to the University of Augsburg to attend a zoom meeting, work on our initial presentations, and explore campus. The zoom meeting was very interesting and touched on a lot of interesting points about the automotive industry. Then we broke into our presentation groups and met the German students we’d be working on our projects with. It was great getting to spend some time getting to know them. After our presentations we took a campus tour with some students and also went to eat lunch in the schools dining hall. It was really interesting to see what their campus looked like as it is very different from Pitt’s. after the tour we did a scavenger hunt around the city which ended at a local brewery and then for dinner we went to an Italian restaurant.

Overall, I’ve loved my first few days in Augsburg and I’m excited for what the rest of the trip holds!
