Day 1 – Across the Pond

After a long day of travel, we finally made it to Augsburg! My legroom was far from spacious, so finally stretching out in Munich was heavenly. Our hotel room wasn’t ready when we arrived, so we took a short walking tour of the city and grabbed some snacks and drinks. I enjoyed exploring the quirks and amenities of Augsburg; what stood out to me was how peaceful the city was/felt overall. Later in the day, we went on a more in-depth city tour where we learned about Augsburg’s rich history and key landmarks. As many others express, one highlight that really stood out to me was The Fuggerei, a historic social housing complex where residents pay just €0.88 in rent. It was fascinating to explore a place with such deep historical roots. The day ended with a traditional German meal of turkey and schnitzel. I am loving the experience and can’t wait to see what the next two weeks in Augsburg have in store!
