We landed in Munich around 7am, and I was completely out of it—barely slept on the flight. The drive to Augsburg was about an hour, mostly farmland and open space, and then all of a sudden we were in this quiet, historic city. We couldn’t check into our rooms yet, so we dropped our bags and headed out to explore.
Even though I was running on fumes, I couldn’t help but take it all in. The streets were calm, the buildings had this old charm, and it just felt different in the best way. We grabbed a quick bite and spent some time in a nearby park—honestly, that quick nap on the grass might’ve saved me for the rest of the day.
Later we went on a city tour and learned a ton about Augsburg’s history. One thing that really stood out was the Fuggerei—housing where rent is still under a euro. I didn’t expect to be that into a tour on no sleep, but it was actually super interesting.
We finally got into our rooms before heading out for dinner and meeting the German students we’ll be working with. It was a long, exhausting day—but also a great start.
