D5: Audi

Today we headed to Audi to tour their factor and have a lecture in the afternoon. I woke up and we left around 9 AM and arrived around 10 AM. We had a little time until our tour and for the first half hour we were able to tour their museum that covers almost all of their history. Something that stuck out to me during the tour was their sudden popularity of their beetle car and how quickly they were able to mass produce and distribute the product. I think it really shows how their adaptability as a company that they have had for their history. Afterwards we began our tour of the factor and our tour guide was amazing at illustrating us the whole production process. I was really shocked to see just how much Audi produces itself there like their batteries and metal framing. I was also fascinated with just how much customization goes into the production because each car is one specifically someone ordered. As we were finished with the tour we finally got some much needed lunch.

After a pretty decent lunch for a company mess hall, we had a lecture with a higher up from Audi. I really enjoyed this presentation as he highlighted Audi’s bigger role within the Volkswagen Group and their direction as a whole. He answered our questions really well and clearly which helped me understand Audi’s direction in the future especially when it comes to EV production. Once we were done with the lecture we had about a hour of free time to shop and explore the museum more. We had a pretty easy going day and finally head back, but was one of my favorite visits so far!
