We departed the hotel very early this morning, but it was okay because this was the day that I had been looking forward to the most. We got to see the Neuschwanstein castle! First, we got to the town, which was so cute. We stopped by a lake and admired the surrounding views. The mountains were the most beautiful thing I have ever seen. It looked like I was standing in a painting. After some time looking at the lake and mountains, it was time for the tour of the castle. The boys walked up to the castle. However, we girls rode in a carriage drawn by horses up. This was so much fun and definitely worth the eight euros we paid for it. When we got up to the castle, it was breathtaking. We looked at the views and then took the tour. The tour was so informative and very interesting. It was fascinating to learn about Ludwig II’s life and why he built the castle. I was amazed that he built something so big and beautiful just for himself. Unfortunately, while we were inside the castle, we weren’t able to take photos. However, the mental photos I took will never disappear. The inside was so grand, and I have never seen anything like it before. The room that stuck out to me the most was the throne room. The details on the walls, ceilings, and floor were incredible. Everywhere you looked, there was something new. I could stand in there for hours and still see something I hadn’t seen before. After the tour, we got lunch at the restaurant on top of the hill. After this, it was time to head back to Augsburg to attend a MAN lecture. This lecture was very informative and I’m appreciative that he found time in his busy schedule to come speak with us about their company. Overall, this has been my favorite day of the trip. The castle was unlike anything I have ever seen before, and it will be something I never forget.
