Day 6: Relaxing

Today as a group, we went to the Arriaga Theatre and went on a tour about its history. Its has been through fires and floods but still manages to look so beautiful. I enjoyed being able to see all the floors and all the different view points. It was interesting to learn about the widow’s box which was made during a time when women weren’t allowed in the theatre by themselves. So this boxes was for women who’s husbands belonged to the theatre but had passed away. The royal box was super cool to see because it has the best view in the entire theatre.

After the theatre, I took a little break in my room before going to the grocery store and getting some dinner. Then, Avery and I went back up Artxanda, the incline to read. It was beautiful to see the sunset over Bilbao and to enjoy some down time reading. For dinner, we walked around Old Town were able to try some new pintxos in the different bars and restaurants. There is a very lively city life during the weekends.
