Seoul Day 9!

Today, we went to Camp Casey, a U.S. military base stationed in Korea. The initial introduction to this camp was a little scary. We started by lining up and having our passports checked. While in line, another member of my group tried to take a picture of the sign Camp Casey. They were immediately yelled at to not take pictures. After some time waiting, we were let in and we had a special tour guide. Our tour guide was a Pitt alumnus who has been stationed at Camp Casey for the last couple of months. She showed us most of the camp and explained her day-to-day life there. Then she took us to a special place where all the military vehicles were. They were all super cool looking, and another member of her team explained all the features of them. It was time for lunch, and the soldiers recommended a pizza place in Camp Casey. I got a calzone, and it hit the spot.

After Camp Casey, we went on a short hike. It was a neat little hike with a waterfall at the end. Like always, I was looking forward to dinner. Dinner was on our own, so I decided to go with some group members to a place that I passed by the other day. It was Korean BBQ, but it had a specific type of meat I wanted, which was marinated short rib. We ordered it with some other meats as well. The other meats were good, but the star of the show was the short rib. It was sweet and tender with a great smoky flavor from the charcoal. After wrapping up that meal, we weren’t done yet. We decided that we wanted some beef barbeque as well, so we went to a new restaurant. At this place, they were serving beef ribs, which were also very delicious. After finishing, we had a debate about which was better, pork or beef ribs. The general consensus was that we have no clue they’re both great. After all this eating, I hit a quick workout to end day 9 in Seoul.
