Our last company visit happened today, a fact which makes all of us realize that our trip is coming to an end. We woke up this morning, had our breakfast, and fell asleep on the bus to our destination as usual. When we arrived at GROB, we were greeted with second breakfast and coffee, which instantly revived us. We began with a short presentation, then went onto the factory tour.
The factory tour consisted of a variety of machines, including the G900 series, which is used by companies like Tesla to create the frame of their cars. Though GROB does not manufacture parts itself, it creates and sells the machines that do. We also learned that the new 3D printing technology is used competitively across the different GROB facilities to create the best design. We passed a mountain, a dragon, a tiger, and many more that remain as evidence of the competition.
Once our tour concluded, we were given two further presentations, one on the future endeavors for the company, and one on the potential job opportunities offered by GROB. Clearly the job is a good one, as one of our presenters left what is now Elisabeth’s job to work there. Considering they have a plant in Ohio, only an hour and a half drive from Pittsburgh, some of us might have to look into that.
