See u later, alligator!

This past week has been an entirely new and raw experience for me. We started our journey at Iyarina Lodge, where we made clay pots—I crafted a heart-shaped mug—and painted them using brushes made from our own hair, which was wild and fun. Next, we visited a cacao farm and got to taste fresh cacao fruit—it reminded me a bit of mango. We then harvested the seeds and went through the entire process of turning them into chocolate ourselves. Then things got real. We went river hiking and swimming—it was honestly scary at first, but I’m glad I gave it a shot. The real adventure began when we took a long canoe ride deep into the Amazon to visit the Walruni tribe. For three days, we were completely disconnected from the outside world—no phone signal, no internet—just the rainforest. It felt like stepping back into the Stone Age… in the best way possible. We played football and swam with people from the tribe, stood in awe beneath a massive saba tree, and learned about their traditions. We even met the president of the tribe, which was an honor. After returning to the lodge, we visited a nearby town by canoe. There, we were greeted by an unexpected crew of dogs and monkeys—it was surreal and pretty amazing.
