Today we started off by visiting bioengineering labs in the school of engineering. We met a PhD student who was working on the AI development of Orika and how it can be used to understand how different people balance in different ways. He showed us a jumpsuit that was used on a person to map out their moves at every joint. We then went downstairs to the second iteration of Orika that allowed each foot to be on a different plate and swivel by itself. This allowed for more accurate measurements of how the patient balances and what they need to work on.
Next we took a quick break before hopping on the metro to go to the hanging bridge. This was extremely cool because we were able to go to the top of the bridge which is definitely one of the highest places I’ve ever been. We were able to walk across the bridge from up top with wooden planks being the only thing holding us up. We then rode on the hanging part of the bridge to finish up the excursion.
