Day 12 – Pizza Palaces and Parks

Today was our free day and I decided to spend it in Munich with a close friend of mine. We took the train in the morning which was about an hour long and met up with one of his friends who joined us for the day.

They gave me a personal tour of the city which made the experience even more special. We started by walking through one of the local parks which was really peaceful and beautiful. It was cool to see a more local side of the city after spending time in the busier tourist areas last week.

For lunch we stopped at a small restaurant where I had pizza with salami. It was simple but so good. After lunch they showed me around some of the local universities. It was interesting to hear about the history of the schools and see the different buildings. We even sat in on a class for a few minutes which was such a unique experience. The students felt a lot like the ones back home which made the world feel a little smaller.

Later in the day we visited Nymphenburg Palace and walked through the park. The statues and architecture were stunning and the whole place felt like something out of a movie. It was one of the most beautiful places I’ve seen all trip.

We ended the day with dinner at a Chinese restaurant and it ended up being one of my favorite meals of the trip. It was a really great way to end my time in Germany. After dinner I took the train back to Augsburg and started getting ready to leave in the morning.

It was the perfect last day and I’m so glad I got to explore more of Munich with friends before heading home.
