Personal Introduction

My name is Patrick Coffey, I am from Lambertville, New Jersey and am currently 20 years old. As of now, I am a second-year student at the University of Pittsburgh, and I am studying Information Systems and Analytics, with a specialization in Project Management. Some of my professional interests include SQL, Excel, and Python, I was pulled towards this side of “business” because I find it more intriguing than things like Finance and Accounting.

Outside of school and the workplace however, my main interest is music. I have been playing guitar since I was a freshman in high school, and ever since then I have fallen in love with it. It is a hobby I pursue every day, if I have a moment of free time I will most likely be playing my guitar. This passion has led me to create music of my own, while they are still very rough “drafts” of what is to be songs, I do plan on pursuing them further and gaining a better understanding of the recording process. Another main hobby of mine is soccer, and I guess I better start preparing myself to say “Football”. It is something I have done since I was about three years old, and I have an unconditional love for it. There was a point in time where I was planning on going to college for it but decided against it as I did not want it to completely takeover my life.

I am currently set to attend the Plus 3: Germany Program in May. I chose this program because my family is primarily German, I grew up going over to my grandparents quite frequently, where I would always get a taste of German culture. It has always been a taste though, and I have been very eager to make my way over to the real place, but I have not had the time until now. There are many things I would like to gain from this program. The main purpose I would say is to simply embrace a new culture. It is the main reason I travel anywhere; I love diversifying my perspective on different areas of the world, I also know this would make my grandmother extremely happy. Another purpose is to gain the experience of working with a team of international students. I am very excited to meet the students of Augsburg, and I believe that this presentation and the whole experience of it will grow me as a professional tremendously.
