Hello! My name is Joey Vojtas and I am from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. I am currently a second year student at the University of Pittsburgh, majoring in Accounting. I’ve always had an interest in numbers and problem solving, which led me on this path. I’m also a part of the Sports Business Association, where I gain insight into how business functions within the sports industry.
Outside of school, I spend a lot of my time playing and watching sports, going to the gym, and golfing. I’m on intramural soccer and flag football teams, as soccer has been a big part of my life since I was six years old. While I decided not to continue playing at a higher level, I chose against it to pursue more opportunities. Also, I’ve spent past summers working as a server at a local country club and at an ice cream shop, gaining strong communication and people skills.
I am excited to be a part of the Plus3: Germany Program. While I have traveled a lot within the United States, I have never been out of the country, which makes this trip even more meaningful to me. I chose Germany because of its strong reputation in the automotive industry. While I’m still developing knowledge in this area, I grew up around German cars and am excited to learn more about the industry.
Germany’s passion for soccer also stands out to me, given my lifelong connection to the sport. I’m also excited to explore my own family’s historical connections to the country. During this trip, I am looking forward to experiencing a new culture, especially from the students we will meet in Augsburg. Overall, I am hoping to learn more about international business and see how different life is outside of the United States.
