Next Stop: Germany

Hi everyone! My name is Lauren Soto. I am a student at the University of Pittsburgh School of Business pursuing a double major in Business Analytics and Business Information Systems. During my time at Pitt, I have also focused on the Spanish language and culture, which I plan to continue after graduation. I have always had a passion for programming and mathematics, which has led me to choose my majors. I especially enjoy analyzing data and using it to make informed decisions that can help organizations succeed. This summer I will be working with MVP network consulting on their project management team, where I will support ongoing projects, provide accurate reporting, and assist in project management.

I am originally from Niagara Falls, New York, and I enjoy watching the Buffalo Bills and the Buffalo Sabres. Outside of the classroom, I love to read, go thrifting, and hangout with my friends. I also am involved in intramural Soccer and Flag Football, as well as an organization called Open Field, where I volunteer to coach underprivileged youth life skills through soccer. This past summer, I worked in my hometown at Niagara Falls State Park as a tour guide on the Scenic Trolley. In this role, I had the opportunity to interact with people from diverse cultures and share the history of a place very meaningful to me.

I am so excited to be a part of the Plus 3: Germany Program. I recently traveled to Poland and The Netherlands this summer for my first time in Europe. I went with my family, but I was there to experience the history that both countries carry. In Poland, I visited Auschwitz-Birkeau, Schindler’s Factory, and St. Mary’s Basilica. In Amsterdam, I went to the Anne Frank House, Dam Square, and other historical landmarks. I am eager to expand my knowledge on history through this visit to Germany. While in Germany, I hope to expand my knowledge on WWII history through this visit to Germany. Professionally, I’d like to get a better understanding on how international businesses, such as those in the Automotive Industry, operate and have developed over the years. I believe this program will not only fulfill a personal goal, but also broaden my global business perspective.
