Greeking-ing out for the Future

Hi everyone! My name is Dominic Jordan, and I’m from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. I’m currently a freshman at the University of Pittsburgh’s Swanson School of Engineering, where I recently declared my major in mechanical engineering. I’ve always been interested in how things work and enjoy using problem-solving to design and improve systems. Outside of academics, I like staying active, playing sports, traveling, and spending time with friends and family.

Originally, I chose to go to Cyprus for Plus 3, but the program switched to Greece. I’ve actually been to Greece before on a cruise, which gave me a taste of its history, culture, and amazing food. This time, I’m excited to experience it from an academic and professional perspective. I hope to learn how engineering and production processes are applied in real-world, global contexts, and see how efficiency and design differ from what I’ve studied at Pitt.

This program connects to my future goals by helping me build a global perspective and strengthen my problem-solving and communication skills. These skills are crucial for a mechanical engineering career. I’m looking forward to applying what I learn in Greece to my studies and future engineering work, while exploring even more of the country than I did on my cruise.
