Hello, my name is Emerson Wagner, and I’m a first-year student in Pitt Business from Downingtown, Pennsylvania, pursuing a dual degree in Applied Mathematics and Finance. Outside of academics, I play tennis, produce music, and love to travel and immerse myself in new cultures, which has taken me everywhere from Taiwan and mainland China to Central Europe.
I chose the Plus3 Vietnam program because Ho Chi Minh City sits at the heart of one of Southeast Asia’s most exciting and fast-growing business environments. As a Finance student, I’m eager to see how startups leverage technology and data in ways that may look very different from what I’ve studied at home. I’m most excited to travel with the UEF students throughout the trip, talking about our lives over what I’m sure will be some incredible bowls of pho. Beyond the professional exposure, I’m hoping this program pushes me to collaborate and develop the kind of cultural awareness that makes someone a more thoughtful person and a better business professional.
