Setting Out for Spain

Hi! My name is Daria Nikolic and I am a freshman in the School of Nursing and I also plan on completing a certificate in Corporate/Community Relations. I plan to work in the ICU post grad and hope to become a CRNA. I am from Lower Merion, Pennsylvania (like 5 minutes outside of Philly). I am an only child but I have a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel named Romeo. I am half Serbian and speak Serbian. I have traveled to many different countries but have never been to Spain so I am excited to go there for the first time! I have loved my time in Pittsburgh going to Pitt football games, different concerts and basements games. I have also got to explore different parts of the city like downtown, the Strip District and Shadyside. On campus I am involved in Greek Life(ADPi), the Nursing Student Association and Red Cross Club. I hope to continue joining different organizations as well. Outside of school I enjoy staying active, hanging out with friends, baking, trying new foods, etc.

I am very excited to be apart of the Healthcare, Innovation and Technology program in Spain because my dad is in engineering and I think it combines our world beautifully. I am excited to finally have some cross over with our interests. I hope to learn how the healthcare system works in Spain and how different devices are being created there. I hope to learn how to communicate with people effectively especially when there is a language barrier and cultural barrier. I think this trip will widen my knowledge and help me be a more effective communicator. I hope to learn how engineering students look at different problems and understand their point of view more effectively. I am stoked to be able to try new foods, learn about Basque culture and explore!
