Hello everyone! My name is Anshi Patel, and I am currently a freshman studying bioengineering. I am from Shrewsbury, PA, and I’ve always had a strong interest in exploring new cultures and stepping outside of my comfort zone. On campus, I am involved in BMES, Theta Tau, and Project Rishi, which have helped me grow both personally and professionally. These experiences have shaped my interest in global perspectives and inspired me to pursue opportunities that allow me to learn beyond just the classroom. Outside of school, I enjoy reading and playing tennis. I am outdoorsy person and I love to explore.
Academically, I am particularly interested in the medical aspect of engineering as I am also pre-med and hope to build a career as a cardiologist. Professionally, I am working toward developing skills such as leadership, communication, and teamwork, which I believe are essential in today’s interconnected world. I am excited to apply what I’ve learned so far in a new, international environment and gain insights that will help shape my future career path.
For my Plus3 program, I have chosen to study abroad in South Korea, specifically in Seoul. I was drawn to this program because of Korea’s dynamic blend of tradition and innovation, as well as its global influence in areas such as technology, business, and culture. I am especially interested in experiencing how Korean companies operate and understanding the cultural values that contribute to their success.
Through this experience, I hope to grow personally by becoming more independent and adaptable in a new environment. Academically, I look forward to gaining a deeper understanding of global business practices, different types of smart systems, and cultural differences. Professionally, I hope this program will help me develop a more global mindset, strengthen my communication skills, and prepare me to work in diverse, international settings. I am incredibly excited for this journey and all the learning opportunities it will bring!
