Traveling to Greece

Hi, my name is Connor Fojas, and I’m a computer engineering major from Jersey City, New Jersey. The plus 3 destination I am going to is Athens, Greece learning about companies there and how they manage the heavy industrial logistics there. Athens has been on my bucket list of places to visit due to its nice beaches and historical background. One of the leading factors in visiting Athens, other than learning more about the on-site engineering experience, is the sports history in Athens. As many know, Athens is home of the original and first modern Olympics and learning the history of the Olympics is quite interesting to me. One of my favorite past times is following sports, whether it’s common sports like basketball or ice hockey to more niche ones, such as Ping-Pong and synchronized diving; all sports that are in the Olympics.

Another part of Greek history I wish to learn more of is their music and how their music was made. A big hobby of mine is listening to all types of music and trying to understand the meaning behind the music. I feel that music is a way of bringing people together from all eras in history and understanding old music can lead us to understand the culture of the past. Not only am I interested in the history that comes with music but the more modern music that they would listen to. I want to know the differences in types of music they listen to compared to the music commonly listen to here.

My goal for this trip is to understand the real time experience of what engineers will do in the workforce. Learn the type of problems they have to solve and their thinking process behind it. I wish to get multiple perspectives on similar problems to fully understand such problems and their reasoning to their solution. Through understanding the process of how engineers think in the workforce, I will bring that understanding to the class and any type of job I take in the future
