Hello! My name is Nicholas Mutchler, I am a first-year Electrical Engineering student from Doylestown, Pennsylvania. I have always enjoyed figuring out how things really work, which is a big part of why I choose engineering. I am really excited to keep learning more, both in and out of the classroom, and to take advantage of the opportunities that I have ahead of me that will help me to grow, try new things, and get a better idea of what I want my future career to look like!
I originally chose Cyprus because I have always loved the Mediterranean, so the location immediately stood out to me. I have also been on a cruise that traveled through that region and stopped in countries like France, Italy, and Spain, which made me even more interested in going back to experience more. Now that the program has been moved to Greece, I am honestly even more excited. Greece has so much interesting history and culture, and I think it is going to an amazing place to learn and explore. One of the biggest things I hope to gain from this Plus 3 trip is a better understanding of how the things I am learning in my classes at Pitt are actually used in the real world.
This program aligns really well with my goals since right now I really want to learn more about what a future career in engineering will actually look like on a day to day basis. As a first-year student, I think it is amazing that I have this opportunity to get such early exposure to not only the professional world, but also to really experience a different culture. I value putting yourself out there and really expanding outside of my comfort zone, and I think this program is an excellent way to do that. I am really excited for the chance to learn, meet new people, and make the most of this experience in Greece!
