Postcards from Morocco: The Journey Begins…

Welcome to the blog!

My name is Rishika Kokje! I’m originally from the Philadelphia area, and I am a first-year business student at the University of Pittsburgh. I’m studying Global Management and Finance, and hoping to dabble in Sports Management along the way. On campus, I’m apart of the Pitt Rowing Team, I serve as the Vice President of Content & Communication for Women in Business, and the Vice President of Professional Events for Delta Sigma Pi, a professional business fraternity. Outside of class, I enjoy golfing, watching Formula 1, and spending time with my friends.

This May, I am absolutely thrilled to be heading to North Africa with Pitt’s Plus3 Morocco program! I chose this specific program because it perfectly blends my love for travel with my academic goals. It is a unique chance to step outside of my own cultural bubble, engage directly with local Moroccan communities, and dive deep into their history. I am most excited to step out of the classroom and see global business practices implemented in real-time. I can’t wait to share my experiences meeting local business professionals, connecting with my peers, and exploring everything Morocco has to offer!

As we travel through Casablanca, Rabat, and Marrakesh, I am incredibly excited to immerse myself in Morocco’s vibrant culture and expand my professional perspective through our company visits. As an avid traveler, I am fascinated by the dynamics of an emerging economy like Morocco. I am eager to see firsthand how local businesses are actively modernizing, adopting new technologies, and positioning themselves for global growth. Academically, I want to bridge the gap between theory and real-world application by analyzing how entrepreneurship and technology intersect in this unique market. Professionally, as an aspiring entrepreneur, I am looking forward to observing how these companies scale, form partnerships, and navigate complex challenges. Understanding these strategic decisions on the ground will give me invaluable insight into the legal frameworks that support growing enterprises.

I am excited to embark upon my Plus3 journey! Over the next couple of weeks, I’ll be sharing everything from our corporate visits in Casablanca to exploring the vibrant souks of Marrakesh. Stay tuned for updates on the food, the culture, and all the professional insights I gather along the way.

Next stop: Morocco!
