I’m sitting in the Pittsburgh airport right now writing this, waiting to board our plane to Atlanta. This trip is certainly going to be a long haul! We have a 7 hour layover in Atlanta, and then the flight to Korea is 15 hours long. I’ve been to Europe and those flights are “only” 7 or 8 hours. If that feels long, I can’t imagine how this is going to be. From the time we left from Pitt to the time we land in Korea, we’ll have been traveling for almost 30 hours! At least we have a bit of time to rest when we get there…
That being said, I couldn’t be more excited for this trip! It came so fast. I remember when I first heard about this amazing opportunity, and now it’s actually happening. The itinerary for the trip sounds spectacular. I’m excited for all the site and company visits. Not only will they be interesting, but it will also be enriching professionally to witness these companies firsthand in a society that is as technological as Korea. I’m particularly excited to visit POSTECH. I think it’s really cool that we get to see more places in Korea rather than just Seoul this year, and I’m interested to see what a Korean University looks like, especially one that’s focused on science and technology. Some of the activities there, like the e-sports colosseum, sound really fun.
I’m more than ready to immerse myself in Korean culture and experience everything that the country has to offer. I’m especially excited to get to eat some amazing food. I want to thank Pitt for creating this amazing program, Swanson and SCI for collaborating so that I could go, and my parents for giving me the opportunity to do this. The trip is going to be packed, but I know it’s also going to be so much fun!
