Before my trip to the Pittsburgh airport, I still had to pack up all my belongings and move out of my dorm. I was a little stressful but I got everyone out and everything packed for my trip to Korea. Getting on the bus to the airport, security, and the first plane ride went surprisingly great. We had a coach bus, so it was very comfortable. Security at the new Pittsburgh airport was extremely short, which was very surprising. On the first plane, I didn’t watch any movies or TV shows, but I played one of my favorite games on my computer, Hollow Knight, for the whole ride.
When we got to the airport in Atlanta, we took the train system a few times, and then I had my first good food of the trip, fettuccini chicken alfredo. I truly did not want to eat fast food because I was scared of getting sick on the long plane ride. After that, I returned to the gate, and now I am waiting to board for the long, long flight to Seoul. And this wait is long; we have a crazy 7-hour layover and board at around 12:00, so our 15+ hour plane ride will start at midnight and go on throughout the night. I don’t know if I will be able to sleep on the plane, and truthfully, I hope I will be because as soon as the plane lands, I have a full day in Korea straight away.
When I get to Seoul, I am so excited to finally try some authentic Korean barbecue, Korean fried chicken, and other Korean food. All I have been eating so far is American food, so I can’t wait for the first Korean food. Moreover, I am excited but skeptical about the K-pop dance class I have in a few days. I truly don’t know what to expect, but I think it will be so funny and fun to try to dance with my groupmates.
I am truly grateful to go on this study abroad trip to Korea. I am so excited to experience the culture, food, and history of Korea.
