Day 2 in Bilbao, Spain!

Today was our first full day in Bilbao, and it was a busy one to say the least. We started off the morning with breakfast at the hotel and then we walked to the Bilbao School of Engineering. Here, we met with Saioa, a mechanical engineering professor at the school who is working on a biomedical product, the Oreka-Balance. This device is used to measure the balance of stroke patients who have issues with their balance in order to monitor their progression and personalize their treatment. We will be exploring this device during our time here, so it was great to learn about it!

We then had lunch at the school and embarked on our journey for the day: a walking tour of Bilbao. Our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable of the city and made sure to take us to all of the best places! She also provided us with a deep history of the city and showed us many of the culturally important places. Some of my favorite things we saw include Puppy, a statue of a dog covered entirely in flowers and the stained glass mural in the metro station.

After our long day of walking, we rested for a little before heading out to find dinner. Unfortunately, we did not have much luck when it came to food, so dessert for dinner it was! We enjoyed our gelato and cheesecake as we took in the beautiful city around us and ended a great day in Spain.
