Today we met in the lobby at 10:30 pretty nice gave us time to sleep in and everything. When we did, we found out that Dr. Yun had arranged a scavenger hunt to find him! He had left the hotel early and said to find him at a famous temple in Korea and gave us a picture sending 3 more in a couple of minutes first two groups to find him win a reward. So, we were off speed walking to the subway because I thought that’s how you get around, but then once I walked into there, Chris pointed out that my map said a bus icon and not the subway, so we bailed after the two groups that were following us went into the subway. So after accidently leading others the wrong direction we switched to the bus, and as we’re walking, we hear,
“Later losers!”
From a car and look to see that it is Dom and his group in an Uber. Which would be much faster to get to the place. After that they said Ubers aren’t allowed. At this point we made it to the bus and another group who also bailed on the subway was with us. From there we made it to the place we thought Dr. Yun was at the Jogyesa Temple. Which is absolutely beautiful! I’ve included a few pictures below.
Anyway, we get a text from him to say that I am not there I’ve moved on to a different spot take a picture from the temple in 20 mins and then I will give you another hint. So, we got to explore in 20 mins. So far it was group B (us) and group D who had the lead and the other two were at least 10 mins behind. The uber actually didn’t get there first because they had to split in two. Finally, we got the next picture and reversed engineered it to see that he was at the National Museum of Korea. Group B and D decided to work together to find him because two groups get the reward. We only had a 10 min head start so we needed to get going we took the subway there and got kind of lost but thanks to Anshi we ended up on the right train. And made it to Dr. Yun 1st and 2nd groups so we got the reward of a free lunch.
Well, we waited we were given free time to explore the museum, and out front of it on the steps there were these two singers. And they were INCREDBLIE. I have no words I loved them. They did “hold your hand” and “we will rock you” and a bunch of others. Once they went on break, we explored more of the museum and got some shoots for our video and checked out the gift shop. Once all the groups were there, we went to lunch I had this pork ramen very good. And then were given time to explore the museum some more. And this time a small group of us went back to the gift shop and waited in this line for special merch, it was a collab between the museum and another company. I got a mouse pad from them, it’s so cute! I bought a couple of other gifts for people and then we meet back up to leave for the K-pop dance class.
I loved the dance class. Was I good? No, but I had a lot of fun. We did it to a song I don’t know the name but all I have in my head are the song lyrics “Swim swim something something something swim swim”. I am not good at dancing, but I feel like the instructor did a good job going slow, and I was able to get it for the most part. Those videos are going in the final project.
From there it was free time, so we headed over to the 12-floor department store. I love it there! Everything is so cheap I bought: a photo album, storage container, hair clip, washy tape, whale shaper, two sets of command hooks, and a dog lick mat for 10 dollars! 10 dollars! The command hooks alone in America are 8-12 for one set! After exploring the place, I headed back to the hotel, tomorrow is a site visit I think so I want to be well rested for that. Good night!
