Before I answer how history has affected my perspective on the future I would like to share some photos of my travels.
In the last several days in Greece, I learned that there is so much more to history, culture, and communication than what many think. Exploring Athens, the Acropolis, museums, as well as preparing gyros at the cooking class, gave me a deeper understanding of Greek culture and its effect on the world around us. One lesson that impressed me greatly was finding out how various parts of the Acropolis were destroyed and bombed but how much was left behind thanks to man’s resilience and desire to preserve the history. This realization gave me an appreciation of the greatness and advancement of ancient Greeks who achieved so much in architecture, engineering, and mathematics. What I learned is that any successful city and civilization can only be formed through human interaction and good communication. Being a future industrial engineer, this experience taught me that history can teach people how to build a better future based on collaboration and innovation.
