My day started with breakfast and then a bus ride to a private hospital called Bizkaia This hospital looked more like what a typical hospital in the United States looks like. We went into the hospital and then we learned about some new innovative medical devices that are being implemented in the hospital. We learned about exoskeletons which some students even got to try. This are used to help rehabilitating stroke patents, patients with MS, etc. It is fully controlled by a computer system and mimics a walk of a healthy human. After this we took the bus back to the University. We had a presentation from one of our own professors about his research in Pelvic Floor Disorders. This was quite interesting to me because I didn’t realize how common it is for women to have them. We also learned about the different specific pelvic floor muscles and how they work and how they can be injured. After this talk we had lunch at the cafeteria.
Around 3 o’clock we took a bus to San Juan de Gaztelugatxe. This is a beautiful peninsula where part of Game of thrones was filmed. It was absolutely beautiful. However, it was a long and strenuous hike. But it was definitely worth it. Going to the top and seeing everything from there was truly breathtaking. The hardest part of the hike was definitely going back up after. After the hike we slowly headed back to our hotel. However, we stopped for ice cream on a beautiful beach. We all ate our ice cream as we sat and watched the waves. That was the end of our fifth day.
