Day 1: Getting Started!

Finally, after a long wait we landed in Buenos Aires! The airport was very nice and busy but luckily we made it through quickly and without any problems. We were greeted by Laura and Ileana, who were very nice. Then we took a bus to our hotel to drop off our luggage, after which we headed to the IES building for lunch! We had salad, churrasco, and steak, which was very yummy.

My first impression of Buenos Aires was that the city felt so alive and full of energy. Everywhere we looked there were beautiful buildings, busy streets, and so many people out enjoying the day. It reminded me of a mix between a European city and New York because of the architecture of Europe but the pace of New York at night. It also had its own unique culture and atmosphere. Even though I was tired from traveling, I was excited to start exploring and experience everything the city has to offer. One thing I specifically noticed about the city was that it was differently more alive at night than it was in the evening.

After lunch, we took a walk around the city to explore a little, which was super cool. We got to see the Casa Rosada and the Obelisco de Buenos Aires, which looked similar to the Washington Monument. A group of us then went to dinner at a pizza place about 20 minutes away from our hotel called Pizzeria Guerin. The food was super yummy, and the staff there were really nice. When we left the restaurant, my peers and I noticed a shift from when we arrived. When we arrived at the restaurant, it was not busy on the street, but after leaving, it was definitely busier and more alive. I called my mom after the end of the night to wish her a happy mothers day and to tell her I missed her, of course.
