Day 1: Lots of Food and Messi

When we first got on the bus to get to our hotel, I saw a lot of run down buildings that I was not expecting right out of the airport. Once we arrived at the hotel, we went out to lunch and I had so much delicious steak and dulce de leche ice cream that was freshly cooked by the sweetest people. We later walked around the neighborhood and saw beautiful and ancient architecture like in Italy. I noticed around 5:30 no one was really outside walking and looking at shops. Once we finished eating around 7:30 the streets started to get packed and everyone was eating. We went to this authentic Italian pizza shop called Pizzeria Guerrin. They create the dough and sauce all freshly in front of you. The food in Argentina was beyond my expectations and I would recommend it to anyone! There were many food shops, especially empanadas. It was fun walking back and seeing everyone enjoying the city. I think every corner had a giant photo of Messi. I saw him more than anyone else. I love how much Buenos Aires respects soccer and is passionate about it. All the TVs in the convenience stores have soccer on. I also noticed many people had dogs with them; I saw no stray dogs and only one stray cat. Usually cities have more strays. There were also not as many homeless people as I expected. Overall I enjoyed my first day in Buenos Aires and can’t wait for the rest of the trip and to learn more about business and healthcare!

Also, I’m wishing my mom a Happy Mother’s Day! I appreciate everything she does for our family and friends. She puts in a lot of effort to keep us happy and healthy. I’m blessed to have the opportunity to be a part of this study abroad program!
