Hello again!! We left the temple as soon as we came. The morning started early for some at an outrageous 5 am. I did not opt to subject myself to torture so I woke at a healthy 6:30 am. We had vegetarian breakfast. I was getting bored of a no meat died, so I did not enjoy so much. There was also a policy that if you put it on your plat , you had to eat it. My eyes are often bigger than my stomach… A good reminder to be mindful about what food I take because what I do not eat goes to waste.
I spend time talking with friends before heading to the temple for another yoga session. I am more flexible than my peers. I stretch often while in college because it is relaxing, so it is good to see my hard work is paying off. I really enjoyed today’s session. The positions I was in I had definitely never been in before. It was very unique and a tranquil experience.
We had tea before we left. We had more Korean bbq for lunch. I have had it so many times now, but I never get tired of it. I sat with a Korean man who told me this is what is grandma would make for him every day. So many dishes and all shared with the whole table. I enjoy eating that way, but I do not think it would work at my house. People are greedy with their food. I think most people in America have a weird scarcity mindset about food, even though there is a near infinite amount. He told me about how he met his wife and his time in the military. (All Korean men have to serve for a year and a half) He explained how good their military is and how it has to be because of the constant threat of war. I enjoyed talking to him he knew so many languages and lived so much life.
We stopped at a shopping district on our way to the hotel in Pohang. I bought the most darling hat (as shown in the photo), some Totoro chop sticks, and some gifts for my friends back home. I took a very Instagram worthy photo, and went on my way to Pohang.
We looked for some restaurants in the area and found one with meat sticks. On our way, we found a cute little cat resting on a building. We had lamb and beef hearts on a skewer with spices and ssam-mu (pickled radish that is always at Korean bbq). We later learned from a Korean boy this is not Korean food, but we were none the wiser. It was so good we thought about going back the day after.
There was karaoke in the area. I had been wanting to go this whole time. All of my friends went out that night and had the time of our life. There was only so many songs in English but we found them. That was one of my most memorable nights so far.
