Day 0: The Beginning – Departure

As my alarm rang bright and early in Tower A, I knew my journey begun. I quickly grabbed a bite to eat and then rushed to Nordenberg to catch the bus. Sitting around with people I didn’t quite know, but was eager to get close with, I found myself excited for what was to come. The bus to the airport was smooth, and we made great time for the first flight to Newark.

After that flight we had a three-hour layover as we waited for our flight to Munich. I used this time to get to know some of the people better. I got some food with them and played cards as well. It was good to finally break the ice. A few hours passed by, and the time had finally come for our seven-and-a-half-hour flight to Munich.

The flight took an hour to depart, so we were off to a bad start. However, I sat next to Reid and got to know him better, so it was all good. The flight took off, and the time finally started counting down until we were in Germany. An hour into the flight, they served us meals, and I chose the pasta option. It was decent, and I ate most of it, but it did mess up my stomach for the rest of the flight. After that, I decided to catch some sleep. I struggled to be comfortable at first, but ended up getting around three hours, which was not too bad for a plane ride. After that, I watched Marty Supreme, and by the time that was over, we had finally landed.

Stepping off the plane, my excitement was at an all-time high. I had finally made it, something I had been looking forward to for months. The airport was pretty smooth as well. We made our way through customs, had a bite to eat, and then hopped on a bus to Augsburg. Staring out the window, the scenery was beautiful, the fields were a vibrant green and the Alps peaked over the horizon.

I am thrilled for the rest of this trip and meeting the German students. It is something that has been on my mind for a while, and I cannot believe it is finally happening. I am going to make the most of it and make sure that I am satisfied with my efforts.
