Today completes the 3rd day in Vietnam.
We started our day with a lecture in Smart & Sustainable Production: Developing Resilient Supply Chains. Professor Minh explained to us the importance of adaptability in today’s age and we presented how companies could prepare and adapt to production setbacks. During the lecture, I won a bag of Seaweed flavored Lay’s chips. It was very tasty, but lunch was tastier…
At Lunch, we went to a steak restaurant and enjoyed a delicious 4-course meal. It started with cheese fries, not my cup of tea, but some of the lads really enjoyed them. Then we went to a pumpkin soup, definitely better than the cheese fries, but still not quite my cup of tea. Then we were presented with a delicious shrimp pasta dish. It was amazing. As of now, it’s the best dish I’ve been served on this trip. I would definitely come back to have it again. After that, we were served the main dish of steak, liver, sausage, 2 fried eggs, and black pepper sauce. Very good, we were told that the proper way of consuming the dish was to mix it all up together and eat it with bread, so I did. It was pretty solid, but the start of the show was the pasta.
After lunch, we went on our site visit at Dien Quang at the Saigon Hi-tech Park. It was a very interesting business. I was surprised by how few people they employ when producing LED lights. After we toured the factory, we toured their “smart bar” and got to see how they use their LED technology to aid businesses. For example, they demonstrated an overhead spotlight that uses AI to change the temperature hue of the light to best match the item that it’s illuminating. Super cool, but they showed us an example with red meat, and it brought up in my mind the question of deceptive marketing, which lightning tech made unappealing raw beef look fresh. Crazy.
Lastly, we ended the night with Korean BBQ. It was delicious!
