Postech, Posco, & Pizza

Today we visited POSTECH again, but this time we got a full campus tour from student guides. We were split into smaller groups, and each group had a POSTECH student showing us around. The campus was incredibly large and modern, but what stood out to me most was how much nature surrounded everything. There were trees, walking paths, and green spaces all around, which made the campus feel relaxing despite how advanced it was.

During the tour, we visited the library, recreation areas, and dining halls. One of the most unique things on campus was a slide next to a staircase. Instead of walking all the way down the stairs, students could just slide down, which I thought was a really creative idea. It made the campus feel more fun and student-friendly. For lunch, we ate in one of the dining halls, and I had grilled chicken with rice and soup. The food was simple but really good and really inexpensive.

Our tour guide was very interested in American culture, so it was fun talking with him and comparing life in Korea and the United States. After lunch, he brought us to the campus gift shop, which was much bigger than I expected. They sold everything from souvenirs and school supplies to clothes and electronics. I was surprised by how many different pens, highlighters, and pencil cases they had. They even sold laptops in the store, which made it feel more like a mini department store than just a campus shop.

Later in the day, we visited POSCO and toured their facilities. They had several interactive presentations and exhibits explaining the company’s history and how steel is produced. After that, we got to tour part of the actual factory and see the steel-making process in person. We were not allowed to bring our phones inside, so I could not take any pictures, but it was still one of the coolest experiences of the trip. Seeing such a massive industrial operation up close was unforgettable.

After returning to the hotel, I rested for a little while before going out with friends to try Korean pizza. It was similar to American pizza, but there were some interesting differences. I ordered cheese pizza, and it actually had corn on it, which I had never tried before. It was surprisingly good. After dinner, I packed my bags and got ready for bed since we would be traveling back to Seoul the next day.
