Today in Korea was one of the busiest days of the trip so far. We had to get up a little earlier than usual because we were visiting POSTECH. I came down for breakfast around 8:20, and not long after that, we headed out for the campus tour. From the moment we arrived, I could tell why POSTECH has such a strong reputation. The campus was huge, well-organized, and surrounded by nature, which made it feel calm and welcoming.
During the tour, we visited the computer science and electrical engineering departments. One of the most interesting parts was hearing about the professors’ research projects, especially the work involving AI and emerging technologies. It was exciting to learn about the kinds of innovations students and researchers are working on there. We were also introduced to several POSTECH students, and they were all very friendly. Even though we come from different places, we found a lot in common and had some great conversations together.
We all ate lunch together in the e-sports colosseum on campus. I had ramyeon, which was really good, and while we ate, they were showing K-pop performances on a giant screen. The atmosphere felt energetic and modern, and it was definitely one of the most memorable lunches I’ve had on the trip.
After lunch, we continued exploring the campus before visiting the particle accelerator lab. The facility was massive, so we had to take a bus between different sections. It was fascinating to learn how the accelerator works, and we even got to walk through parts of it, which made the experience feel even more real.
When we returned to the hotel, I rested for a bit and then worked on my final presentation with my group. Later that evening, we took a short bus ride to Yeongildae Beach. The beach was peaceful and very clean, with seafood restaurants lining the shore. I wasn’t really in the mood for seafood, though, so I ended up getting McDonald’s instead. After dinner, we walked along the beach and visited a temple built over the water. Seeing the ocean at night, along with the lights from the POSCO steel mill glowing in the distance, made for a really beautiful ending to the day.
